Temple University Women's Rugby Football Club (TUWRFC) was founded in 1995. The team is one of 28 sports clubs managed by Campus Recreation. Unlike intramural sports, sports clubs are competitive sports teams that play against other colleges. The women's rugby team provides an excellent opportunity for those athletes who wish to remain physically active and competitive while at Temple University.
In recent years, Temple Women's Rugby has succeeded at the highest of levels. The club won the EPRU Collegiate Division II playoffs in 2004, 2005, and 2009. In 2005 and 2010, they were MARFU Division II Collegiate Champs. Temple Women were National Champions for Division II in 2004, and National Runner-Up's in 2005 and 2010. In 2012, the team finished undefeated in MARC Division II before moving up to Mason-Dixon at Division I at the start of the 2013 season.
